Secrets of the Unknown

A FORGED IN THE DARK GAME CREATED TO PLAY OSR ADVENTURES

They say that every GM is a game designer. 

Well, I've always been a GM who admires the creativity and quality of OSR adventures, but I prefer the Forged in the Dark style of play.

Secrets of the Unknown is my contribution to the indie RPG scene. Here I've put together my preferences, after years of running and playing games, to create a game that facilitates my efforts to enjoy the amazing OSR adventures in the way I most like to play.

Secrets of the Unknown works best if you use the adventures as gaming material for the story created at the table, instead of trying to adapt all the nuances of an OSR game. The mechanics have been thought out and created to reduce the difficulties of converting rules and numbers.

To do this, I adapted mechanics from various other games, mainly World of Dungeons, Knave, The Black Hack 2e, Vagabonds of Dyfed, Freebooters on the Frontier, Together is the Guild and Broken Wonders.

This 48-page book is illustrated and laid out in a way that makes it easy to use while playing. As well as the rules, you'll find lots of tips on how to apply them at your table. In addition to the book, you can also download sheets in .doc and .ppt (to share on Drive), making it easier to play online.
